About Me

Music has been a central part of my life since I was ten years old.  I have played a variety of instruments, but have focused on the piano.  I have a Bachelors of Music Education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University.   From January 2010 to August 2016 I taught music at Temple College.  I have been at Academy Intermediate since August 2016.

My husband and I have four children and have fostered 12 other children over the years.  I am so excited about the opportunity to work with your child and am looking forward to great times of music and learning.   Each year will be an exciting time as we focus on a particular group of composers, and learn music notation, music vocabulary, instruments and singing.  This spring we will be incorporating Ukuleles into the music curriculum.

Each grade level will present a musical during the fall semester.  Please make it a habit to regularly check the “Music Notes” on the school website for any upcoming events in which your child may be involved or want to attend.  It is very important to support all of our music programs.  “Music Notes” will also have details about any expectations (start time, arrival time, what to wear, etc) for events.

“Musicians paint their pictures on silence,” is a quote from Leopold Stokowski.  Students are expected to enter class silently and line up and leave in the same manner.  On the “Music Notes” page, please review the procedures for audience etiquette at a performance.  There are many times when silence is not only best, it is expected.  Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.  I want to keep an open line of communication with parents/guardians.  Please feel free to email me at elizabeth.milne@academyisd.net.com or to call me during my conference period from 11:50 a.m. to 12:50 p.m.; the school number is 254-982-0150.
